Who Needs Yosemite?

I am not much of a camper, actually I don't really like the outdoors much at all.  Give me a hotel, air conditioning, and a hot shower and I'm good.  

But, in an effort to keep the summer entertainment going at my house we decided to 'go camping'.  WE got the tent, had a campfire, s'mores, hot dogs, bugs, the whole nine yards.

  

 

Okay, I will confess.  This is the real version of our camping trip.  If you have to go camping, I highly recommend it. 

Yep! Here we are, camped out under our gazebo in our backyard.

And here are the happy campers, Dad and Gabriella ready for bed.  Oops!  Where's Mom? 

I'm not crazy, I am upstairs in my bedroom!   Goodnight Mike, Goodnight Gabriella, sweet dreams, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite---did I say that?? 

How I Spent My Summer Vacation....

I decided I would close down my Etsy shop for a couple months, who knows could be more, could be less.  But I am tired of missing all the fun.  As we speak my hubby and daughter are kayaking, then they will go geocaching, and finally camp in the backyard.  Although, I am not an outdoorsy kinda Mom, I still want the option. 

So...what the heck...it's my shop, my rules...

Of course, I will continue to blog as often as possible.   That's easy to do, doesn't involve missing out on too much fun.

Nagi Noda was a Japanese pop artist and director well known for her commercials and videos who died at the age 25.  Her videos are fascinating.

After my posts on the Aldridge woman I got to thinking about second hand style and it's impact on high fashion.  Well apparently it's huge.  You must check out Junky they are 2 women from the UK that would deconstruct, reconstruct, and restyle second hand clothes to wear out to the clubs in the early 90's.  Their re-designs have evolved to fabulous runway fashions.

My Latest Obsession

I have been making sterling silver beads for days now.  It's very therapeutic and instantly gratifying for me--that's me Ms. Impatient.  Kinda' of like the vacuum with the clear plastic container, I get to see the dirt right then, I don't have to wait to empty the bag.   

I am not sure what I will do with the beads yet.  Maybe a bracelet, maybe add some stones in between or just all sterling beads.  We will see where the mood takes me.

As promised here is Mom's blog Atlantis Home .  Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous is all I can say.  I have a new appreciation for Goodwill and Salvation Army.  You should see some of the pieces she finds!  Of course, when you pair them with old 501 jeans, vintage accessories and gorgeous, expensive shoes then it's all good.  Like this velvet jacket from Salvation Army--man I wish I was that lucky.   I don't have the patience, I am more of the ebay shopper, which is also where she finds many of her pieces.

Imelda Can You Hear Me??????

I found 2  blogs by a mother and daughter from Texas that are to die for.    I love their fashion style, they believe in pairing  vintage, thrift store, ebay pieces with wonderful accessories and expensive fabulous shoes!  I keep saying I am going to start wearing heels again, especially after reading their blogs, but I always end up in my flat comfy red vintage ankle cowboy boots or rainbow sandals.

The first blog is Jane's Sea of Shoes   She is only 17 years old -- I think this girl was born with Givenchy baby booties on her feet.
